About SUMIT
I have tutored and taught dozens of students in Melbourne- both at the primary and secondary level during last 1.5 years and have a good experience in Mathematics and Science till engineering level with sound footing in Calculus, Further Math and Math Specialist Class.

I am a Mechanical Engineer by education, also did Masters in Finance but moved to Teaching and Counseling as I felt my true calling in this discipline.

I have teaching experience of 12 years across America, Ireland, India and Australia. I have taught Algebra, Trigonometry, Coordinate Geometry, Calculus and even basic Mathemtics to students from 4th class onwards till Engineering years. I confidently assert that I have an innate talent and knack for teaching with a natural propensity to strive for excellence.

1. My first brush with teaching came whilst I was enrolled in Rochester Institute of Technology, NY, USA and tutored College Physics and Higher Mathematics to Engineering students. The class size was small ( up to 6 students) as I started teaching in groups. I taught in America for around 4 years and this introduced me to rudimentary concepts of teaching.

2. Then I went to Dublin, Ireland and professed teaching in Accounting and Statistical Mathematics in DBS (Dublin Business School) to the Finance students in the college. This introduced me to a new set of students, diversified my persona. This experience taxed my mind & skills to a higher contour.

3. In India, I joined a U.S. based company (Manya, Princeton Review) and worked with them as a teacher / counselor for a year and was trained by their expert faculty from Malaysia and New Jersey. I taught English and helped students improve their Mathematical skills. This work here helped me manage the class and large groups of students effectively and I usually reflected from my past experience to self assess myself.

4. There after, I opened my own Institute- self owned and autonomously managed - ‘SUMMIT’ in New Delhi, where I taught students for exams like GMAT, GRE, TOEFL, IELTS & SAT etc which was in conjunction with the Physics and Math classes I took for High School ( year 10 till 12th & also 1st year College Level). Here I taught hundreds of students and my aim was to disseminate education and guide them in the right direction. Managing my own Institute came with additional responsibilities such as : learning time commitment, accountability (as parents and guardians had anxious queries), to smoothly run and manage the Institute efficiently, cater to ‘Individual and Group doubts and discussions’ – all this lent me a professional outlook and sharpened my acumen to solve and tackle multiple things at hand.

5. I have also got a certification as an online tutor for one of the leading online company’s Tutor Vista and I used to tutor students from US and UK (7 hours daily) online. This introduced me to ICT for the 1st time and from there I started building upon it and felt its imperative use in teaching and education.

6. In order to earn a professional degree in Teaching, I enrolled in La-Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia and am currently in the 1st semester of Masters in Education which will finish in Nov 2010. In Australia, I have finished ‘One Practicum Training’ in Buckley Park College, Essendon where I taught year 7, 9, 11, 12th & Math Methods and Specialist Math Class.

7. I also worked with N.T.M.S. Company under the Australian Govt. and tutored students in Melbourne in secondary level Math and Science. This experience familiarized me with the Educational pattern (under VCE) in Australia and introduced me the mode of pedagogy here. I tutored around a dozen students in Melbourne (at the primary and secondary level) and their performance in school improved substantially.
